About Us
Over 40 Years of Service
Established in 1964, the Aerosol Association of Australia Inc. has approximately 50 members involved in the manufacture and marketing of aerosol products and major suppliers to these companies.
Our mission is to:
- Foster high standards for the industry, and concern for the health, safety and environmental impacts of its products;
- Address legislative and regulatory challenges at the Federal and State levels;
- Meet the needs of industry for technical and legal guidance;
- Provide a forum to encourage and share ideas; and
- Foster the growth and well-being of the industry and promote the image of the aerosol package.
Activities
PROMOTIONAL - The Association has an extensive promotional campaign, designed to correct the widespread misconception that aerosols still damage the ozone layer and to promote the recyclability of tinplate aerosols.

In conjunction with the Aerosol Association of New Zealand, the Association developed the "It's OK to Spray" logo (a registered Trade Mark) which is used widely in the campaign and on products.
|
This slogan has subsequently been adopted by the US and South African aerosol industries and was the theme of the 2001 International Aerosol Congress held in Maastricht.
The Association has invested over $4 million in print, television and radio campaigns and in project material for primary and secondary school students.
These campaigns have won recognition at home and abroad and in 1999 the Association's radio campaign - developed by the John Bevins agency - won a Silver WorldMedal (TM) at the prestigious New York Festivals.

RECYCLING - Through its membership of the Steel Can Recycling Council Inc. the Association helps fund the CansmartTM Steel Can Recycling Campaign.
GRAFFITI - Concern with graffiti vandalism has led some to propose legislative controls on the sale and display of spray paints.
In contrast, the Association promotes voluntary initiatives to address shop theft including the "responsible retailer" initiatives adopted in some US cities, along with greater community debate about the complex social issues of which graffiti is but one - albeit highly visible - symptom.
